English Speaking Roman Catholic
Community of Basel, Switzerland
We
are Roman Catholics from around the world gathering together to
celebrate
Communion and share in the
Sacraments. Please come and celebrate with us at Bruder Klaus Kirche,
Bruderholzallee 140 at
5:30 pm unless noted in the calendar of events. Directions
and map. Contact: info@esrccb.org
Our choir members and organist
provide the musical
support for our praise. Members of the community also participate in
the mass as lay ministers: hospitality ministers, liturgical ministers,
altar servers and Eucharistic ministers. Altar service is open to all
children who have made their first communion.
Several times a year, a special
children's mass is held. The mass includes younger and older child
participation as choir members / musicians and lectors. All children
are invited to participate by coming to practice 30 minutes before the
mass.
The community youth group also
plans and sponsors a special youth mass quarterly.
Liturgy
Notes - Our Music at Mass
Now that we have begun a new
liturgical year, we will be singing the regular mass parts from the
Mass of the Sacred Heart. The assembly music can be found in the front
pages of the blue song book. We have adopted the new memorial
acclamation, “Save Us Savior,” for this liturgical year.
Word of
God and Bubbles Bible Babies Programs
Each Sunday many children leave
mass for 15-20 minutes to participate in the Word of God and Bubbles
Bible Babies programs. These programs, bringing God’s word to the
children with stories and crafts, are in need of volunteers. No
teaching experience is necessary, just a love of children. Please
contact Maria Calderon if you’dlike to lend your talent.
Men’s Faith
Sharing
A faith sharing group for the
men of our community meets each Thursday. The group
gathers to share their faith, read and learn about the Bible, and grow
together as brothers in Christ and members of the Catholic Church. The
evenings begin at 8:15pm in Riehen. Realizing that work and family
schedules can be demanding, please join whenever you can. Contact us at
info@esrccb.org for further details.
Choir
The choir sings at Mass every
Sunday, reflecting the wide variety of musical traditions which is
shown in the multi-national nature of our community. Every year the
choir arranges a workshop at the Benedictine monastery at Mariastein,
where we reflect on what we do, and practice for the major feasts of
Christmas and Easter. New members are always welcome, and we also
welcome instrumentalists to join and play with us, particularly
guitarists and keyboard players. Above all, the choir is a friendly and
talented group of people who chose to add to the liturgy through music.
